Jason has had a true passion for sport all his life and over the last 20 years he has developed his career in the sport and physical activity sector, working at grassroots level as well as for Sport England and England Athletics.

As head of 2012 legacy and strategic sport at Essex County Council, Jason was responsible for maximising the benefits of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in the county.

He was instrumental in the launch of Active Essex as the county sports partnership and has led its development as the driving force in increasing the levels of physical activity and sport in local communities across Greater Essex. As Director of Active Essex, Jason has worked with partners to develop the 2017-2021 Active Essex strategy to change 1 million lives by tackling inactivity and making physical activity part of everyday life. The strategy is focused on improving the outcomes for people’s long term health and wellbeing and aligns with Public Health England, NHS England and Sport England priorities. Jason is the volunteer chairman of Basildon and Phoenix Swimming Club, giving his time freely to develop more opportunities for people, whatever their age or ability, to participate in swimming.
